What this service actually involves.
We strip the existing felt or coating, inspect & repair the decking, fit a recovery board where needed, then bond a single sheet of Firestone RubberCover EPDM across the entire roof in one piece. Perimeters are tucked into a chase or kicker-trim, drips are mechanically fixed, and rainwater outlets are cut and bonded with Firestone's own quickseam adhesive. The result is a black, matt, monolithic surface with no seams — and the longest manufacturer warranty available in the UK flat-roof market.

We measure the deck, check falls, photograph all upstands and outlets. Firestone cut the membrane to size at the factory.
Strip & prep
Old covering off, decking screwed off and replaced where rotten, recovery board laid for a clean substrate.
Bond the sheet
Membrane laid out, relaxed for 30 min, folded back, bonding adhesive rolled on both surfaces, sheet rolled back into place.
Detail & seal
Drip trims fixed, upstand bonded into the kicker, outlets cut and quickseamed, lead flashing dressed into the chase.

How does EPDM compare to torch-on felt?
Felt has 5–15 year typical life with seams that fail over time. EPDM is a single seamless sheet with a 25-year warranty and 50+ year expected life. EPDM costs ~30% more upfront but is significantly cheaper over the roof's lifetime.
Why Firestone specifically?
Firestone EPDM has been in the market since 1980, has the largest installed base, and the only widely-honoured 25-year warranty. Generic EPDM is 30% cheaper but typically caps at 10–15 years.
Can we walk on it?
Occasional foot traffic for maintenance is fine. For walkways we lay protective paving slabs on rubber pads. Not designed as a roof terrace surface — for that, ask about our liquid system or paving over.
What happens if it gets damaged?
EPDM is repaired with a self-amalgamating patch — clean, prime, bond, done in 20 minutes. Damage from impact (dropped tools, fallen tree limb) is covered against poor patch quality, not the impact itself.
