A box gutter (the hidden lead-lined trough between two pitched slopes or behind a parapet) is the highest-risk leak point on any Victorian London terrace. We strip back to the timber substrate, replace any rotten boarding and reline with either code-5 lead (50-year life) or self-adhesive bitumen (15-year life).

Re-board if needed
Any soft boarding cut out and replaced in 18mm WBP ply with screws into rafters. Fall checked with a laser level.
Reline
Code-5 lead formed in max 1.5m sections with welted joints — that's the proper detail that allows thermal movement. Bitumen alternative laid in single membrane.
Outlet & sign-off
Outlet to downpipe inspected and re-flashed. Bucket water test before pack-down — should drain in under a minute.
