— Overview
What this job actually involves.
If your loft has black mould across most of the rafters, point ventilation (a single tile vent) isn't enough — you need continuous airflow. We retrofit a continuous eaves ventilator strip along the front and rear, plus a continuous ridge ventilator at the apex. Air enters low, warms in the loft and exits high — passive cross-flow, no mechanical fan, no electricity.
— Signs you need this
Five things we look for first.
Black mould covering most of the loft rafters
Condensation drips visible across the loft
Insulation damp in multiple spots
Existing tile vents not solving the problem
Recent loft conversion sealing off original eaves vents
— Included in the price
A fixed price means a fixed scope.
No hidden extras. Materials, access, disposal and a written guarantee are all in the headline number.
- Continuous eaves ventilator strip (front and rear)
- Continuous ridge ventilator at the apex
- Existing insulation moved back at eaves where blocked
- Loft inspection before and after
- Mould-affected areas treated with fungicidal wash (optional)
- 10-year manufacturer warranty on ventilator products
— On the day
How we work, step by step.
Eaves preparation
Lowest course of tiles lifted along both eaves. Existing insulation rolled back from the wall plate where it's blocking the original eaves gap.
Fit eaves vent
Continuous over-fascia ventilator strip fitted along the full length. Tiles re-bedded over the top.
Ridge vent
Ridge tiles lifted along the full apex. Continuous ridge ventilator unit clipped on, ridge tiles re-bedded over it.
Verify airflow
Inside the loft, you should feel a slight draught from front eaves to ridge. That's your cross-flow established.
— Materials & kit
What we bring to the van.
The unglamorous detail that decides whether a fix lasts five years or twenty-five. We use trade-grade or manufacturer-spec materials only — never builders' merchant own-brand.
- Klober continuous over-fascia vent
- Klober continuous ridge vent
- Insulation rolls if eaves need re-stuffing
- Optional fungicidal wash for mould

— Frequently asked
3 answers before you book.
Mechanical fan or passive vent?
Passive every time unless you've got a flat-ceiling loft conversion. Passive uses no electricity, has no moving parts and lasts 30+ years.
Will it cure existing mould?
It'll stop it spreading. Existing mould should be wiped down with a fungicidal wash once airflow is established — we include that on request.
Is this needed after a loft conversion?
Almost always — conversions seal the original eaves gap. A continuous vent retrofit at the new eaves line is the standard fix.
